There are two main sources of methane emissions from centrifugal pipeline compressors.
- Methane leaks emanating from the dry gas seals.
- Methane discharge resulting from compressor station blowdown (depressurization) during maintenance and repair.
These fugitive gas emissions may seem minor, but they can add up to over 1.5 million cubic feet of methane pollution per year.
